Fulfill all the requirements, and they might say you're too good for the role. Lack experience, and they might say you're not qualified for the role. Employers, please tell me what do you actually want?
There are certain employers who pick favorites or are being too perfectionist in finding a candidate. The point here is, job seekers can't read your mind! There will always be a reason why employers reject you. These are the untold reasons why employers reject your application even if you're a good fit for the role.
You're indeed qualified for the job, but the whether you're hired or not depends on the employer. Initially, they may say they want someone who has 5 years of experience in the related field, but later they change it to 10 years. Why? Maybe they have an internal issue but the thing is, they're giving you false hope!
It's simple, they go through your resume and there's some information that they don't understand. Rather than seek for an explanation, they may put aside your resume and say "You're not qualified for the job".
3 years of experience in the related field, hardworking, have multiple skills, can multitask, etc. Wow! This is what I'm looking for! However, rather than accepting you, they could reject you due to other reasons such as a mismatch of benefits, salary, working culture, etc. In this case, you could try to negotiate with the company.
You have to remember; different people have different demands. You fit all the requirements stated by the company but the employer or manager may have personal preferences, such as in terms of appearance or even gender. Yeah, it's hard to read their minds.
Graduated from an engineering school but applying for a marketing job, are you sure? Why not, if the candidate has experience or show enthusiasm to learn new things? If he/she is willing to start from the bottom then you deserve a chance without being judged.
Here we go again, favouritism. Hiring their own family members, cousins, close friends, etc over a qualified candidate. This is company politics, and there’s not much you can do about it.
"Hey I remember you. You're the one who cut the queue at the coffee shop, aren't you?" If the hiring manager says something like this, your chances of getting hired is low. We never know who we will be dealing in the future, so be nice to everyone.
The most important part of the job search is to keep trying: the more jobs you apply to, the higher your chances of being hired by the right company. So, if you were rejected, get up stronger and try again at www.maukerja.my.
